Ladakh, Aug 27 (KNO): The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) unit of Ladakh union territory Thursday said that the party is gearing up to contest its first hill council election from all the 26 seats.
Aam Aadmi Party’s official spokesman Rinchen Namgyal told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), he said that the party will be contesting first Ladakh autonomous development Hill Council (LADHC) election in next few weeks and it's really going to be a big challenge since it’s the maiden election.
“The response from general public is overwhelming and youth mostly the literate class is more inclined towards the party in the region.”
He said they are gearing up on a war footing basis for the forthcoming hill council polls and will contest elections from all the 26 available seats. “Our strategy for the election will be based on the development people require and the main focus will be the basic needs of the general public as our promises won't be mere words,” he said. The official spokesman said that their stand is clear about the demand of 6th schedule for the Ladakh union territory as it is the need of hour. He said that people of the UT particularly those residing in the eastern Ladakh will face hardships if the prevailing situation persists even during the winters.
“The main source and backbone of Ladakh has always been tourism industry that is already hit due to the ongoing pandemic now in case the war like situation surfaces then the region will get a major setback and will requires a revival which will take a long time to get back,” he said.
He said the government should have good policies with China and not to give them laxity in any manner. "The prevailing situation in the eastern Ladakh is due to the leniency of the army, had it been alert and vigilant earlier we may not have to face this situation and now it must be pacified with dialogue."
“If the China doesn't agree to leave and dialogue fails then there is no other option to fight them and we are also ready,” he said—(KNO)
